Science & Co.: Bridging the Gap 

What makes people leave academia and embrace new challenges in the business sector?

The V BiotechHealth Symposium intends to bring a new perspective, focusing on the entrepreneurial nature of the translatable and translated science produced in the field of biotechnology.  

Different testimonials from collaborators working in national and international companies and also emerging startups will be brought; introducing new companies and what they do; explore major differences between national and international realities about translational research; and discuss, in a round table, what should be done to help bridging the gap.

This Symposium is integrated in the BiotechHealth - International Doctoral Programme, an interdisciplinary Doctoral Programme which fosters national and international collaborations between recognized research groups, companies and hospitals. It is organized by the Students to the Students, the Academics and the Scientific Community in general. â€‹

The V BiotechHealth Symposium intends to bring a new perspective, focusing on the entrepreneurial nature of the translatable science produced in the field of biotechnology.  

Different testimonials from academic researchers and collaborators of national and international companies will be brought; introducing emerging startups and what they do; exploring major differences between national and international realities of translational research; and discussing, in a round table, what should be done to help bridging the gap between scientific research and companies.

Travel Info

A. Arriving at Porto by train

Take the train at Campanhã or São Bento train station. Metro or bus are available from both stations to the venue. However, the metro is the easiest way to reach i3S, since Pólo Universitário metro station is located in front of i3S entrance.

B. Arriving at Porto by car

The i3S Institute - GPS coordinates are: 41º 10' 30.008'' N, 8º 36' 12.488'' W. 
Please note that i3S does not offer parking space.

C. Arriving at Porto by plane

Porto´s airport, Francisco Sá Carneiro, is located 11 km from the city center and has direct access via metro.​
